Volunteers are very special people!

Welcome to TMH. As a volunteer, you are joining the area's leading healthcare provider. Volunteers at Trumbull Memorial Hospital share the tradition of volunteer service that dates back to the founding of our hospital in 1907.

The role of a volunteer is a very important and a valuable one.  Our staff and patients need the help of our community…warm and caring, men and women of all ages and from all walks of life who enjoy human contact and a sense of participation and giving.

Volunteer opportunities

Adult volunteer

  • Opportunities for adults 18 or older.  Some assignments will involve direct patient contact, while others focus on more clerical support.  Availability of assignments will vary.

Junior Volunteer

  • Opportunities for students 14 years or older to gain experience and become acquainted with a variety of health careers.
  • Stephen R. Reese Junior Volunteer Service Award

College and Premed volunteer

  • Opportunities for college students who are searching for volunteer positions that will allow exposure to careers in healthcare.

Healing Arts volunteer

  • Opportunities for creative individuals to bring music, games, arts and crafts or laughter to the patient’s bedside or hospital common areas.

Healing Garden volunteer

  • Opportunities for individuals with a passion for gardening. During the growing season essential tasks include planting, weeding and watering.

Pet Visitor volunteer

  • Opportunities for pet visitor volunteers and their certified dogs. Therapy Dogs International, Therapy Dogs Incorporated and Delta Society offer the certification required.


Volunteer requirements

Becoming a Forum Health volunteer requires:

  • A completed application, background check (student under 18 years of age require a school counselor's recommendation) and interview.
  • A commitment to a designated time schedule to volunteer and completion of orientation and training.
  • A review of orientation and training each year.
  • An annual TB test
  • An obligation to comply with the responsibilities, rules and procedures outlined in the volunteer handbook.
  • The ability to hold as absolutely confidential all information relating to patients and/or staff.
