The Heart Hospital’s team of cardiothoracic surgeons offers expertise with state-of-the-art, complex heart surgery and innovative procedures. Valve replacements and repairs, coronary bypass, thoracic and ascending aortic aneurysm, minimally invasive surgery and other complex cardiac surgeries comprise nearly 650 open heart procedures performed last year Forum Health has become a recognized leader and training site for beating heart surgery and leads the region in valve surgery.
Advanced technology and innovative techniques allow surgeons to perform beating heart surgery and endoscopic vein harvesting. Intra-operative transesophageal ECHO for evaluation of cardiac function and valve structure, as well as epiaortic ultrasound and direct ultrasound for the evaluation of the ascending and descending aorta to decrease risk of stroke are also used. As a result, The Heart Hospital has achieved excellent clinical outcomes that compare to or exceed national benchmarks, including few post-operative complications, reduced length of hospital stay and quicker recovery. Also, the program provides assist devices for bridge-to-transplantation if clinically indicated. Patients are stabilized and referred to a transplantation center.
